Event Highlights & Photos

Charity Step 2 will always feel like the moment we tried something wildly ambitious without fully understanding what we were getting ourselves into, and somehow made it work anyway. Riding the confidence and glow of Charity Step 1, we decided to swing big. The Church on Berkeley felt like the perfect next chapter, a cavernous converted sanctuary with character and history, a space that practically begged to be filled with sound and light. The catch was simple and brutal. It came empty. Not a single thing we needed existed inside those walls. No sound. No lights. No bar. No staging. No fashion infrastructure. No ticketing setup. Nothing. Just a beautiful shell waiting for a team of twenty somethings running mostly on passion and mild delusion.

What followed was a crash course in event production at full speed. We had to bring everything in ourselves, from lighting rigs to sound stacks to the scaffolding for a full runway. We learned how to run a bar from scratch, leaning on friends in the industry who loaned expertise and hardware. Through a bit of luck and a lot of charm, we even connected with friends who had early access to Mineris point of sale gear, which elevated the whole experience and made us feel, for a moment, like a real production company. We had to secure a one night liquor license, navigate the rules, coordinate with police, and build out coat check, ticketing, and the entire digital presence. All while trying to stay calm enough to remember why we were doing any of this in the first place.

And despite everything, the night absolutely soared. The Paris fashion show brought energy and elegance into the venue, transforming the nave of the church into something equal parts sacred and electric. Contact, our tech house band, delivered a live set that still lives in the collective memory of everyone who was there. The DJs, led by Matt C, stitched the night together with a soundtrack that kept the room in motion. The Westbury light and sound installation elevated everything, delivering a cutting edge experience for the time and turning that old church into something radiant and alive.

Charity Step 2 taught us more in one night than years of planning ever could have. It was art and music, chaos and learning, friendship and community, all fused into a single unforgettable evening. It set the tone for what Charity Step would become. A place where ambition and heart lead the way, even when the logistics try their best to knock you down.
